Congratulations to the 2021 recipient of the ASME Savio L-Y. Woo Translational Biomechanics Medal, Dr. Danny Bluestein! Dr. Bluestein is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University in New York. He is an internationally recognized leader in cardiovascular biomechanics, thrombosis and the thrombogenicity of medical devices.
Dr. Bluestein presented the Woo Medal Lecture at the 2021 Summer Biomechanics, Bioengineering, and Biotransport Conference (SB3C) held virtually on June 16, 2021. The title of his presentation was “Optimization of Prosthetic Devices and Procedures for Treating CV Diseases.”
The Woo Medal was established in 2015 by the Bioengineering Division (BED) of ASME, to recognize meritorious contributions in translating bioengineering research to clinical applications to improve quality of life through research, education, professional development and with service to the bioengineering community.
