Dr. Rita Patterson

At the Summer Biomechanics, Bioengineering and Biotransport Conference (SB3C) held at the Seven Springs Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania on June 25-28, 2019, ASME honored Dr. Rita Patterson with the 2019 ASME Savio L-Y. Woo Translational Biomechanics Medal for her groundbreaking biomechanics research. Dr. Patterson, a Professor and Associate Dean of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, was the first woman to receive this award. Her presentation was entitled “Form = Function: Translating Biomechanics to Improve Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation”.
Dr. Patterson and her team have answered key clinical questions that can help make people’s lives better and their research has significantly impacted the treatment of patients with hand and wrist disorders.
Dr. and Mrs. Woo hosted a celebration dinner for Dr. Patterson at Helen’s Restaurant in Seven Springs. A wonderful time was had by all.
