Recipient of a Travel Grant to attend the 2009 Summer Bioengineering Conference in Lake Tahoe, CA

hojoongjungI had the opportunity to attensummerbioelaketahoed the ASME 2009 Summer Bioengineering Conference in Lake Tahoe, California with the financial support from the Asian♦American Institute for Research and Education (ASIAM Institute). I was a co-author along with Mr. Matthew Fisher, Dr. Patrick McMahon and Dr. Woo on the paper entitled “Effects of Tunnel Location for Suture Augmentation Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury.” Because I am a surgeon and involved in bioengi- neering research, this meeting was very informative. I have learned valuable lessons on motion analysis and finite element modeling of the knee, as well as the current concept of cartilage research. Knowledge such as this is indeed a strong motivation for my future research and patient care. In addition, Lake Tahoe was a wonderful place with plenty of fresh air and a beautiful surrounding making it an ideal place to hold an academic meeting.

In summary, I had a wonderful educational experience at this meeting, and would like to thank ASIAM Institute for their generous support.
