Recipient of a Travel Grant to attend the 2009 Summer Bioengineering Conference in Lake Tahoe, CA
I had the opportunity to attend the ASME 2009 Summer Bioengineering Conference in Lake Tahoe, California with the financial support from the Asian♦American Institute for Research and Education (ASIAM Institute). I was a co-author along with Mr. Matthew Fisher, Dr. Patrick McMahon and Dr. Woo on the paper entitled “Effects of Tunnel Location for Suture Augmentation Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury.” Because I am a surgeon and involved in bioengi- neering research, this meeting was very informative. I have learned valuable lessons on motion analysis and finite element modeling of the knee, as well as the current concept of cartilage research. Knowledge such as this is indeed a strong motivation for my future research and patient care. In addition, Lake Tahoe was a wonderful place with plenty of fresh air and a beautiful surrounding making it an ideal place to hold an academic meeting.
In summary, I had a wonderful educational experience at this meeting, and would like to thank ASIAM Institute for their generous support.
