Professor Mahmut Nedim Doral is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology and Chief of Service in the Department of Sports Medicine, University of Hacettepe, Ankara, Turkey. Professor Doral received his medical degree from the University of Istanbul Cerrahpasa School Of Medicine in 1979, and later completed a clinical fellowship at the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology at the University of Hacettepe, School Of Medicine. He worked in the Pr. Roy Camille and Pr. G.Saillant Clinic at the University of Paris from 1989-1990, training on knee, sports traumatology and arthroscopy. Professor Doral is internationally recognized for his expertise in orthopaedic sports medicine. He has authored over 150 scientific articles (48 international and more than 100 national publications) in peer-reviewed journals and over 15 book chapters in internationally published books and he acts as a referee in 5 international and 4 national journals. His major research interests are in sports injuries and rehabilitation, arthroscopic and endoscopic surgery, and basic science research in tendon injuries. Dr. Doral has been the Director of Hacettepe University Sports Medicine Center since 1995. He is currently the President of the Society of Turkish Speaking Countries of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology. Professor Doral is also a board member (2003-2009) and membership chairman (2007-2011) of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) and Turkish delegate of European Society of Sports Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA). He currently serves as the Consultant of Sports Medicine & Traumatology of the Federation of Tennis and a board member of the Executive Council of the Turkish National Olympic Committee. Dr. Doral is the Vice President of the Turkish Society of Orthopaedics & Traumatology (TOTBID) and International Communication Chairman of the Turkish National Orthopaedic Society. He was the Past President of the European Federation of Orthopaedic Sports Traumatology (EFOST) (2000-2003), Asia-Pacific Knee Society (APKS / Knee Section of APOA) (2004-2006) and Turkish Society of Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery (TSYADCD) (2002-2004), and the Past-Chief of the Staff/Medical Committee Turkish Federation of National Basketball Team. He was the Founding-President of Turkish Society of Sports Traumatology. Dr. Doral was past board member of the Turkish General Directory of Youth and Sport (GSGM) Health Committee. He was honored with Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Engineering in 2006.
