Professor Cheng-Kung Cheng is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Biomedical Science and Engineering, Director of the Center for Innovation and Incubation, and Director of the Orthopaedic Device Research Center at National Yang Ming University. Dr. Cheng is also a Special Assistant of the President of National Yang Ming University as well as a Chief Consultant (Director) of the International Orthopaedic Research Center of the Naton Medical Group in Beijing.

Professor Cheng received his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Iowa in 1988. Upon receiving his degree, he returned to Taiwan where he was an Associate Professor at the National Taiwan University for 7 years before moving to National Yang Ming University where he has remained for the past 15 years.

Professor Cheng is currently the President of the Taiwanese Orthopaedic Device Development Association and the Chinese Speaking Orthopaedic Society. He is also the Vice-President of the Taiwanese Biomedical Engineering Society and on the Board of Directors of the International Chinese Hard Tissue Society.

Professor Cheng has received many honors including the Distinguished Sci-Tech Contribution Award from Executive Yuan, the Distinguished Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers, Honoary Distinguished Award at the 13th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and the Outstanding Research Award in Biomedical Engineering in 1999 and 2003 from the National Science Council.
