Savio L-Y. Woo Translational Biomechanics Medal 2018

At this 2018 World Congress of Biomechanics conference in Dublin, Ireland, Dr. Kerry Athanasiou was presented with the ASME 2018 Savio L-Y. Woo Translational Biomechanics Medal for his exceptional contributions to bioengineering science. Dr. Athanasiou, a Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, was honored for “inventing intraosseous infusion, developing corresponding patented technologies, and translating those technologies to clinical use worldwide. Dr. Athanasiou’s research focuses on the regeneration of cartilage in the knee, hip and shoulder joints as well as the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
