Sinan Karaoglu was born in Sivas (01 April 1965) and raised in Izmir, Turkey. He attended the Dokuz Eylul University/Izmir where he received his M.D. in 1988. He then did his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Erciyes University/Kayseri from 1989 to 1993. Then he served his military obligation in 1993. He received training on knee surgery, sports traumatology and arthroscopy at the University of Erlangen and Giessen/German in 1997. He also completed his research fellowship at the Musculoskeletal Research Center, University of PIttsburgh from 2005 to 2006. Dr. Karaoglu’s main interests are orthopaedic sports medicine, Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology and Ligament and Tendon Biomechanics. Currently he is a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Erciyes University. He is a member of many societies such as the Turkish Society of Orthopedics & Traumatology (1992- ), Turkish Society of Sports Traumatology & Arthroscopy Knee Surgery (1996- ), International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) (1997 – ), European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) (1998 – ), and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) (2008 – ). He also currently serves on the board of the Society for Experimental Research and Laboratory animals (as President, 2007 – ), the ethical committe, Erciyes University (as board member, 2007 – ) and the scientific committee, ISAKOS (as committee member, 2007-2009).
